A great engineer spends half their time building, and the other half deconstructing systems built by others.

In modern complex systems, verifying that a system will not fail is itself an integral part of engineering.

An engineer is not merely someone who builds things, but one who understands how systems operate and ensures they remain stable even under abnormal and edge-case conditions.
